ABOUT

The Grazioso Music Studio

The Grazioso Music Studio was born out of our passion for sharing the gift of music in a meaningful, creative and professional manner. A long-awaited dream of our family, our music studio represents more than music lessons; rather, we see it as an expression of God's grace. First, because we believe music is a gift from God. And second, because we get to enjoy and share this gift with our students in a grace-filled atmosphere.

Our Mission

Our philosophy here at Grazioso is that all children are naturally musical and uniquely gifted by God. Our mission is to help your child develop holistically through music, which means that we seek to do more than simply transferring musical knowledge - rather, we are committed to show how music can positively impact your child's overall healthy development as a person.

Meet

Mrs. Bao Drăgoiu

By God’s grace, I am a professional pianist passionate about sharing the beautiful gift of music, with over 10 years of experience in piano teaching and performance. After graduating in piano performance from the Music Conservatory of Saigon in Vietnam, I continued my studies with a B.A. in Music - Piano from the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, USA. I am currently pursuing the M.A. in Music Education from the Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. Throughout the years, I had the opportunity of investing myself in many students, teaching in several music schools and music centres both in Vietnam and in the US, including the Moody Community Music School in Chicago and the Music4Life Centre in North Liberty, IA.

My desire, together with my husband Gabi, is to make the joy of music accessible to all children, especially those underprivileged. All our hard work to make the Grazioso Music Studio become real is to bring the ultimate glory to God and to show His love and grace to everyone around us as He has first shown it to us.

Meet

Mr. Gabriel Drăgoiu

I have dedicated my life to two areas of study, which represent my passion: music and theology. I first graduated with a B.A. and M.A. in oboe performance and chamber music from the Music Conservatory in Timisoara, playing as an oboist in the city’s “Banatul” Philharmonic Orchestra for almost six years, before moving to the US to study theology. There I graduated with a M.Div. In Pastoral Studies and a Th.M. in Christian Counseling. I am currently back into the Philharmonic, as one of the oboe players of the orchestra. Over the years, I gained experience in performing and teaching music, as well as music school administration, together with church worship and youth ministry as a pastor.

My desire, together with my wife Bao, is to share God’s love in all we do here at Grazioso. Through our teaching, we desire to inspire our students to be their best, knowing that they are valued, appreciated and encouraged to reach their potential. All in an atmosphere built on Christian values and our love for God and for our neighbor.

Meet

Ms. Rebeca Mehedinți

I was born into a family of musicians, and I have been surrounded by music from an early age. Whether at home or at church, where I played in the orchestra. I studied violin and then viola at the “Ion Vidu” High School of Arts in Timisoara. I then continued my studies at the Faculty of Music and Theatre in Timisoara, obtaining a BA and an MA degree in instrumental performance. During this time I taught violin and viola and had the opportunity to help many children and adults alike, to learn to play an instrument. Having an experience of over 15 years in teaching music has brought me the certainty that anyone can learn, this ability being given to all of us by God. I want to continue to share this gift with all who want to cultivate it.

TEACHING

Oboe - English Horn Lessons

The oboe and English horn lessons at Grazioso are one of the unique marks of our studio. Our students will find that studying the oboe and the English horn with Mr. Gabriel will help them develop not only their musical skill, but also their musical sensitivity. Under his guidance, our students will be formed in both the solo and the orchestral styles of playing. Our philosophy of teaching focuses on correct breathing techniques, accurate rendition of the musical piece, interaction with orchestral scores and famous orchestra solos, as well as developing musical understanding and expression. Students will also be introduced to the process of reed making.

Non-Classic Guitar Lessons

Our non-classic guitar lessons are dedicated to students who seek to use their guitar playing in the context of Christian worship. Under the guidance of Mr. Gabi, we seek to help our students develop a wholistic understanding of music and how it relates to their community. Through our lessons, our students will learn the different chords fingerings and strumming patterns, they will develop the ability to sing while accompanying themselves at the guitar, they will learn how to read lyrics and chords sheets, and also the skills needed for leading the congregational singing at their home churches or communities.

Voice Lessons

Our voice lessons are dedicated to students who want to explore and develop the quality and the range of their voice. Together with Mr. Gabi, who leads our voice lessons, we will focus on learning how to breath correctly, we will learn different exercises of vocalisation and pronunciation that the student can also practice on their own, and we will learn to read and interpret vocal music. Our repertoire is limited to classical music and vocal pieces from musicals. We will also prepare our students to manage and defeat their stage freight, being able to sing confidently both as soloists, or as part of a group or a choir.

Workshops

Once a semester, we will offer interesting workshops, for about an hour and a half, on Saturdays. We will cover diverse topics, such as: music theory, music history, lives of famous composers, sacred music and worship, introduction to other musical instruments, introduction to composition, etc.

Masterclasses

Once per semester, we will organise masterclasses where our students can enhance their musical understanding and skill, under the guidance of some wonderful professional guest musicians. During each masterclass, our students will have the opportunity to also perform, or just listen and learn from our guests.

Performance Classes

Performance Class is a platform that gives all the students the opportunity to perform in front of their peers and gain valuable performing experience on a regular basis. It also helps the students to learn from each other by listening to each other's performances. The Performance Class is held on Saturday mornings once per semester.

Formal Recital

Recitals offer the opportunity for students to perform chosen pieces that they have worked on throughout the semester, before their family and friends. It is a joy to see how they grow in their learning journey and music artistry. Recitals are held at the end of each semester, in the months of May and December.

Community Service Events

Students have the opportunity of participating in various community service events in order to share their musical talent and to spread joy and love to everyone in the community, in a voluntary manner.

Competitions and Festivals

Students will be announced when competitions and/or festivals occur within the year. The teacher may suggest to the students and their parents to participate in the comepetitions and festivals that fit with the students' ability.

Group Lessons

Recorder/(Blockflöte) - Musikgarten

Sopranino recorder flute

Recorder (Blockflöte) Lessons

Learning to play the recorder (or by its German name, the blockflöte) is one of the easiest yet rewarding ways to start playing a musical instrument. It is very affordable, light weight, easy to carry anywhere you go, and fun to play. During our lessons with Mr. Gabriel, you will develop your breathing and fingering reflexes, learn to read and interpret music, and play both individually and in a group. The recorder lessons take place in groups of 5-10 students, between the ages of 6-18, and last for 1 hour, once a week. Each student must have their own instrument prior to the start of their first lesson (you should be able to purchase a recorder from any music store in the city, but let us know if you have trouble finding one and we will try to help). Our lessons will cover a variety of music, from familiar tunes in unison, to more complex pieces in 2 or 3 part harmony.

Musikgarten - Early Childhood Music Program

Our Musikgarten program is the first of its kind in the country! Started in 1994 in Germany and now running on almost all continents, Musikgarten is dedicated to families who want to introduce their children to the world of music from the earliest childhood ages. Under the leading of Ms. Bao, who is a Musikgarten certified teacher, parents and children together embark on a journey of music discovery, immagination, meaningful movement , interactive activities, story-telling and singing. Each session can last from 30-50 minutes, in groups of maximum 6 children, each accompanied by one parent or caregiver. There are five Musikgarten age groups, between 0-8 years old, each program spreading over one or two years of curriculum.

Children Sing Together in the Choir during Choir Practice

GRAZIOSO CHILDREN'S CHOIR

The Grazioso Children's Choir is a very dear project to us here at Grazioso. Research has already shown that there are a multitude of benefits for children who sing in a choir, including a better memory, higher levels of creativity, growth in self-discipline and punctuality, improved overall academic progress, advanced social skills, better emotional expression and management, and increased capacity for team work. As ones who have experienced these benefits ourselves, we are excited for our students to enjoy them as well by becoming a part of our Grazioso Children's Choir. On top of all this, we believe the children's choir can be the perfect place for your child to develop quality friendships with other children who share the same passion for singing. These friendships and fun memories of singing together can last for a lifetime!

There is a limited number of 20 spots for students ages 6-16, and admission will be done based on an interactive audition. Choir practice will take place once a week and will last for one hour. The main musical genres that we will sing with our children's choir are: classical, sacred and seasonal (Christmas and Easter).
